CAE and Air Europa Strengthen Partnership with Enhanced Training Capacity in Madrid

CAE, a global leader in aviation training, and Spanish airline Air Europa have announced the expansion of their long-standing partnership through a long-term agreement to enhance pilot and cabin crew training facilities in Madrid, Spain. This collaboration is set to further solidify by deploying a B737NG full-flight simulator (FFS) at the CAE Madrid training center in October 2023.

State-of-the-Art Training Facilities

The latest-generation CAE 7000 XR-Series Level D FFS will be introduced to provide an immersive pilot training experience, aiming to support the growth trajectories of both Air Europa and its subsidiary, Air Europa Express. This initiative marks a significant step in centralizing essential training capacities for pilots and cabin crew, adding a new B787 door trainer to enhance the center's capabilities.

A Commitment to Continuous Training

John Baigent, Chief Operating Officer at Air Europa, emphasized the importance of continuous professional training in the airline's operational strategy. He noted the efficiency and quality service that have characterized the partnership with CAE over the years, a relationship further strengthened following the unification of Air Europa's fleet around the Boeing 737-800 and Boeing 787 models.

Meeting the Demand for Skilled Aviation Personnel

Michel Azar-Hmouda, CAE's Vice President of Global Commercial Aviation Training, highlighted the forecasted demand for 44,000 new commercial pilots and 75,000 new cabin crew members in Europe over the next decade. He assured Air Europa that it could rely on CAE to secure a steady pipeline of highly skilled personnel to support its expanding operations.

A Decade-Long Partnership

CAE has been the preferred training provider for Air Europa since 2010 and for Air Europa Express since 2015. The collaboration encompasses operations in Madrid and at the CAE Palma De Mallorca - Air Europa Training Centre. The two centers are expected to train over 800 pilots and 2,000 cabin crew members annually.
