United Airlines Expands Winter Schedule with 50 Additional Nonstop International Flights
United Airlines has announced a significant expansion of its international winter schedule, adding 50 additional daily flights and marking the largest winter expansion in the airline's history. This strategic move includes the launch of the first-ever direct flights from the continental U.S. to Manila, Philippines, and exclusive nonstop service to Christchurch, New Zealand, starting this December.
Historic Expansion in Asia-Pacific
The airline has observed a remarkable surge in demand for travel to the Asia-Pacific region and is responding by enhancing its network. United's transpacific network this winter will be 94% larger than the previous year, with a notable expansion in the South Pacific and the rebuilding of its China network. The addition of 15 daily non-stop flights across the Pacific region will make United's Asia-Pacific network larger than it was pre-COVID for the first time.
AdvertisingUnprecedented South Pacific Growth
United is undertaking the largest South Pacific expansion in aviation history, increasing flights between the U.S. and Australia/New Zealand by over 40% for the winter season. The airline will operate 66 flights per week between the U.S. and these destinations.
Key highlights of the expansion include:
- U.S.-Christchurch Direct Flights: Starting December 8, United will be the only airline offering direct flights between the U.S. and New Zealand's South Island with the inaugural San Francisco-Christchurch service.
- Los Angeles-Auckland Service: Launched on October 28, this service strengthens United's position as the largest U.S. airline serving Auckland.
- Los Angeles-Brisbane Service: Beginning November 29, United will become the largest carrier between the U.S. and Brisbane with this new service.
Rebuilding the Network in China
United is also focused on rebuilding its network in mainland China. The airline has increased its service to Shanghai with a daily flight from San Francisco and will resume daily San Francisco-Beijing flights on November 9.
Enhanced Transpacific Service
United is expanding its service to key markets across the Pacific, including:
- Transpacific Service to the Philippines: United is now the only U.S. airline to fly direct to the Philippines from the continental U.S. with its new San Francisco-Manila flight.
- Los Angeles-Hong Kong Service: United is the only U.S. airline to fly direct to Hong Kong, with three daily flights to the city from Los Angeles and San Francisco.
- Los Angeles-Tokyo/Narita Service: United resumed daily, direct service between Los Angeles and Tokyo/Narita, connecting Los Angeles to both of Tokyo's international airports.
More Transatlantic Travel Opportunities
With transatlantic demand at a historic high, United is extending some of its most popular seasonal routes, including:
- New York/Newark – Athens, Greece: Extended through November 28.
- Washington-Dulles – Barcelona, Spain: Extended through December 13.
- Washington-Dulles – Rome, Italy: Extended through January 8.
- Second daily New York/Newark – Paris, France: Extended through January 8.
United will fly to 25 destinations across the Atlantic this winter, more than all other U.S. carriers combined.
