A recent survey conducted by Sunwing Vacations has shed light on the diverse vacation preferences of Canadians. The findings reveal that Canadians have distinct vacation personas, ranging from those prioritizing relaxation to those seeking adventure.

According to the survey, 27% of Canadians identify as "max relaxers," preferring to unwind and relax during their vacations. Another 28% describe themselves as "reserved vacationers" who mostly keep to themselves or their travel companions. Interestingly, 22% of respondents view themselves as "adventure hunters," keen on exploring new activities during their vacations. This percentage rises to 34% among younger Canadians aged 18-34.

The survey, conducted between September 22-25, 2023, involved 1,504 Canadians who are members of the Angus Reid forum.

Regarding travel companions, 53% of respondents plan to travel with their partner or significant other, 28% with family members, 12% with friends, and 7% solo. Value for money emerged as the top consideration for 45% of potential travelers, followed by the safety and reputation of the destination, cited by 28%.
