Air Transat Launches Exclusive Non-Stop Flights from Montreal to Marrakech

MONTREAL, Oct. 26, 2023 - In a groundbreaking move for North American aviation, Air Transat, crowned as the World's Best Leisure Airline at the 2023 Skytrax World Airline Awards, has unveiled its plans to initiate a non-stop service between Montreal and the enchanting city of Marrakech, Morocco. Starting June next year, this service will position Air Transat as the sole North American airline offering direct flights to Marrakech.

The Montreal-based airline's foray into Marrakech marks its debut destination in Africa, signaling a pivotal shift in its strategic direction. This expansion is not just a testament to Air Transat's commitment to diversifying its network but also caters to the burgeoning demand spurred by the substantial Moroccan diaspora in Montreal and the undeniable allure of Marrakech as a tourist hotspot.

Annick Guérard, the President and Chief Executive Officer of Transat, expressed her enthusiasm, stating, "The inclusion of Marrakech in our transatlantic destinations, our very first in Africa, underscores our dedication to network diversification. This exclusive, year-round service is a response to the escalating demand driven by the significant Moroccan community in Montreal and the undeniable tourist charm of Marrakech."

The flight schedule reveals that from June 12 to October 24, 2024, the Montreal-Marrakech route will operate on Wednesdays and Saturdays, transitioning to a weekly service on Saturdays until April 20 thereafter.

Highlighting the significance of this partnership, Adel El Fakir, CEO of the Moroccan National Tourism Office, remarked, "Canada, especially Quebec, holds immense importance for Morocco. The Montreal-Marrakech route, in collaboration with Air Transat, is North America's premier non-stop link to Marrakech. This opens a plethora of opportunities for travelers, granting access not only to Marrakech but also to the coastal gems of Essaouira, Agadir, Taghazout, and the southern regions of Morocco."
