Norwegian Records Over 2 Million Passengers in September
In a recent announcement, Norwegian Air reported transporting over 2 million passengers in September. This figure represents an 8% increase compared to the same month in the previous year. Notably, the airline achieved a regularity of 99.7%, marking its highest level since the onset of the pandemic.
AdvertisingGeir Karlsen, CEO of Norwegian, expressed satisfaction with the airline's performance, stating, "September was yet another good month for Norwegian. We had more than two million passengers, and our operational performance is again among the top airlines in Europe. Our recorded regularity is now at the strongest level in over 18 months, while our on-time-performance also improves further. Our solid and efficient operations provide predictability for all customers that choose to fly Norwegian, either for leisure or business purposes."
The airline's capacity (ASK) for September stood at 3,208 million seat kilometers, while the actual passenger traffic (RPK) was 2,696 million seat kilometers. On average, Norwegian operated 80 aircraft in September, achieving a regularity of 99.7%. The few flights that were not operated were primarily due to Air Traffic Control issues at London Gatwick Airport and national strikes in Italy. The airline's punctuality rate, which represents flights departing within 15 minutes of the scheduled time, was recorded at 84.6% for the month.
Karlsen also highlighted emerging travel trends: "As we approach the winter season, we have adjusted our operations to align with the travel patterns in the quieter winter trading period. A clear and continued trend is that our southern European destinations experience robust demand among people from the Nordics. In addition, a new trend this autumn is the rise in popularity of city breaks in Eastern Europe in particular."
Furthermore, Norwegian has already launched ticket sales for its summer 2024 program, which will run from the end of April to the end of October. The airline promises more routes and increased frequencies, with additional routes to new destinations set to be announced in November.
