As Oktoberfest 2023 kicks off in Munich, Lufthansa's Trachtencrews are again taking to the skies, embracing the festive spirit. A day before the official start of the renowned Munich Oktoberfest, Lufthansa's Trachtencrews embarked on a special flight to Mexico City. This was followed by the traditional “Dirndl Flight” to Washington, D.C., on September 24.

Key Highlights:

• Traditional Attire: In a nod to the Oktoberfest celebrations, female flight attendants donned dirndls while their male counterparts wore lederhosen. This tradition of Lufthansa cabin crew wearing Bavarian attire during Oktoberfest has been upheld for several years. The clothing is not limited to the crew; Lufthansa ground staff in Terminal 2’s passenger service department also participates in the festive dress code.
• Sustainable Fashion: The Lufthansa dirndls, designed by Munich's costume specialists, Angermaier, are certified according to "STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX". Emphasizing sustainability, all materials used were produced in Europe, with cloth exclusively woven in Austria.
• Bavarian Delicacies in the Sky: Oktoberfest is not limited to the ground. Lufthansa is serving traditional Bavarian specialties in its First and Business Class sections until the end of September. Additionally, passengers can indulge in Bavarian treats in Terminal lounges, enhancing the festive experience.
