Emirates and United Strengthen Ties with Expanded Codeshare to Include Mexican Destinations
Emirates announced on September 5, 2023, a significant expansion of its codeshare partnership with United Airlines, incorporating nine destinations in Mexico. This move marks Mexico as the first country outside the US to integrate into Emirates' codeshare network with United.
With this enhancement, Emirates will extend its reach in Mexico, adding eight new destinations to its roster and the already-served Mexico City. The expanded codeshare network now encompasses cities such as Cancun, Cozumel, Monterrey, Puerto Vallarta, Guadalajara, San Jose Del Cabo, Leon/Guanajuato, and Queretaro.
This collaboration facilitates seamless connectivity for passengers, enabling those flying on Emirates to Chicago or Houston in the US to connect to popular leisure destinations in Mexico effortlessly. Moreover, the partnership offers greater flexibility in flight timings, providing more options for travelers heading to Mexico City. Depending on their itinerary, passengers can fly to Mexico City via Emirates' daily services from Dubai with a stopover in Barcelona or opt for codeshare flights to the Mexican capital.
The expanded codeshare agreement also benefits travelers from Mexico, granting them access to destinations within Emirates' extensive network via transit points in Chicago or Houston.
Tickets for the codeshare destinations in Mexico are available for booking on the Emirates website and through preferred travel agencies, with travel commencing from 14 September.
AdvertisingThe expanded Mexican destinations are anticipated to attract travelers from regions such as the Middle East, India, and South Africa. Popular destinations for global travelers from Mexico include India, Israel, the UAE, South Africa, and select locations in Southeast Asia.
The enhanced codeshare network now boasts 134 destinations accessible from United's US gateways. Additionally, nearly 100 more destinations across the US, Canada, Central and South America, and the Caribbean are available to customers on an interline basis.
Emirates' commitment to providing a seamless travel experience is evident in its daily services to Houston aboard its flagship A380 aircraft, which recently introduced the Premium Economy cabin. The airline also operates seven weekly flights between Dubai and Chicago using the Boeing 777, ensuring smooth connectivity for global travelers.
Passengers booking through this codeshare agreement can enjoy the convenience of a single-ticket itinerary, Emirates' baggage allowance, and hassle-free baggage check-through to their final destination. Additionally, Emirates Skywards loyalty program members can earn and redeem miles on codeshare flights between the two airlines.
Baggage check-through is valid for travel out of Mexico. International travelers flying to destinations in Mexico on Emirates and United codeshare flights must clear their baggage with US Customs at the first point of entry (Chicago or Houston). Travel plans with interline flights on Emirates and United are not eligible to earn Skywards Miles.
