The ambitious project, which accentuates New York’s rich culinary and cultural landscape, is set to revolutionize the traveler experience, offering over 60 new shopping and dining venues.
A New Great Hall: The Epicenter of Culinary and Retail Excellence
The redevelopment initiative will introduce a grand Great Hall, promising to be a haven for food enthusiasts and shoppers alike. Amanda Zhang, American's Vice President of Airport Affairs and Facilities, expressed eagerness to work with project partners and the local community to craft a dining and shopping experience that mirrors the vibrant New York region.
A Nod to Local and Diverse Businesses
To foster economic opportunities locally, the project will spotlight New York’s culinary finesse, featuring many locally owned and diverse businesses. Building on a Legacy of Expansion
Following a recent $400 million expansion, the terminal is gearing up for a comprehensive overhaul of the concessions program. The redevelopment will encompass dining, retail, duty-free shopping, performance spaces, and digitally enabled experiences, enhancing the customer journey.

Terminal 8 has evolved as a global gateway, hosting operations of One World® partners, including British Airways, Iberia, and Japan Airlines. The redevelopment is set to bolster the terminal’s stature further, promising a world-class travel experience.
A Commitment to Sustainability
Echoing a commitment to sustainable practices, the redevelopment will see a collaboration with The Green Restaurant Association to foster a food and beverage program that champions sustainability. The initiative aims to certify all eligible tenants as Green Restaurants, emphasizing environmentally conscious operations.

The project promises to be a boon for the local community, creating over 300 new jobs in the concessions sector. Moreover, a small business accelerator program will be launched to facilitate the entry of local small businesses into the airport industry, promising technical assistance and innovative leasing solutions.
