Unprecedented Passenger Numbers and Operational Reliability

American Airlines welcomed nearly 6.5 million customers on over 59,000 flights during this Thanksgiving holiday, achieving its highest-ever load factor for this period. This impressive figure underscores the airline's commitment to meeting the surge in travel demand effectively.

From November 16 to 26, American Airlines reported an exceptionally low cancellation rate, with only 55 out of more than 59,400 scheduled flights being canceled, translating to just 0.09% of its schedule. Notably, the majority of these cancellations were due to weather-related issues, further highlighting the operational resilience of the airline.

Exceptional Performance Amid Adverse Weather Conditions

A testament to American Airlines' robust operational strategy was its performance during the snowstorm at Chicago O’Hare (ORD). The airline managed to run its operations smoothly with no cancellations associated with the hub, despite challenging weather conditions.

A Team Effort

This operational success can be attributed to the diligent efforts of American’s 130,000 team members who worked safely and tirelessly over the holiday period. The airline also acknowledges the significant support from its partners at the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Transportation Security Administration (TSA), and U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP).
