Alaska Airlines Introduces New Nonstop Service from San Diego to Atlanta
Alaska Airlines has announced the addition of a new nonstop service between San Diego and Atlanta, set to commence on May 16, 2024. Recognizing the preference of its San Diego-based passengers for direct coast-to-coast flights, the airline has made tickets for this route available for purchase on its official website.
This new route underscores Alaska Airlines' commitment to expanding its network for Southern California travelers. By spring 2024, the airline will offer 37 nonstop destinations from San Diego, covering regions such as the Northwest, Northeast, California, Mexico, Florida, and all four major Hawaiian islands. With the current count of 36 nonstop destinations, Alaska Airlines holds the distinction of offering the most direct routes from San Diego compared to any other airline operating at the airport.
AdvertisingKirsten Amrine, Vice President of Revenue Management and Network Planning for Alaska Airlines, commented on the new service, emphasizing the airline's dedication to providing San Diego passengers with many nonstop options. She noted, "Both San Diego and Atlanta are sought-after destinations for leisure travelers and significant business hubs. The introduction of this route is fascinating as Atlanta represents our largest unserved transcontinental market from San Diego."
The flight schedule for this new service is designed for travelers' convenience. Flights will depart San Diego mid-morning, arriving in Atlanta by late afternoon. The return service to San Diego is scheduled for early evening. These timings also facilitate connections within Alaska Airlines' intra-California network.
Kimberly Becker, San Diego County Regional Airport Authority President & CEO, thanked Alaska Airlines for consistently offering new destination options. She stated, "The direct service to Atlanta not only provides Southern Californians with a gateway to Georgia's capital and primary economic hub but also ensures that residents of Georgia have seamless access to the scenic beauty and warmth of San Diego."
