Air Canada Highlights Top Contenders in Canada's Culinary Scene with 2023 Longlist

Air Canada has officially released the longlist for "Canada's Best New Restaurants 2023," a prestigious recognition that celebrates the crème de la crème of the country's gastronomic sector. This marks the 22nd year of the initiative, which has been a cornerstone in promoting Canada's distinct culinary culture since its inception in 2002.

Spotlight on New Entrants in the Culinary Scene

The 2023 longlist brings to the fore 30 remarkable new restaurants that have opened their doors between late spring 2022 and May 31, 2023. These establishments, spread across 15 cities in seven provinces, have been acknowledged for their exceptional service, culinary creativity, and the high quality of food they offer. The list serves as a guide for both domestic and international travellers, encouraging them to explore the rich and diverse culinary landscape of Canada.

Andy Shibata, Vice President, Brand, Air Canada, noted that the list is a testament to the regional diversity of Canada's culinary scene, offering a plethora of dining experiences, from enjoying meals at a marina on B.C.'s Sunshine Coast to upscale casual dining in St. John's Harbour.

A Rigorous Selection Process

The selection process for "Canada's Best New Restaurants" is both unique and rigorous. A panel of food experts from across the country recommends the top 30 new restaurants, which are then visited by a single anonymous reviewer over a month-long culinary journey. This approach ensures an unbiased assessment based on the quality of food, level of service, and commitment to culinary creativity.
