Air Canada and Dreams Take Flight Edmonton Celebrate Three Decades of Making Dreams Come True for Children

Air Canada and the Edmonton chapter of Dreams Take Flight are celebrating a milestone of 30 years in facilitating magical experiences for children facing various adversities. The collaboration has been instrumental in transforming the lives of many children, providing them with unforgettable memories and a day of joy and excitement.

A Journey of a Lifetime for Children

Early this morning, 104 children from Alberta and the Northwest Territories embarked on a journey of a lifetime. Many of these children had never before experienced air travel. The particular flight, departing from Edmonton International Airport, transported the young passengers to a renowned theme park in California. This marks the 30th anniversary of the Edmonton chapter's involvement in the Dreams Take Flight initiative.

This flight is notably the first from Edmonton since 2019 and the fourth of the eight planned Dreams Take Flight journeys across Canada for 2023. Over the past three decades, more than 42,000 Canadian children have had the opportunity to enjoy a Dreams flight, thanks to Air Canada serving as the exclusive carrier for these trips.

The Heartwarming Impact of Dreams Take Flight

The initiative has successfully brought smiles to children facing mental, physical, emotional, or social challenges. The children selected for the Dreams flight are chosen through charity, and the journey is made possible through the selfless contributions of pilots, flight attendants, maintenance engineers, and numerous others working behind the scenes.

One touching testimony comes from the mother of Naomi, a participant in the 2011 Dreams flight from Edmonton. Despite recovering from cancer, Naomi enjoyed a day full of joy and celebration. The family cherishes the memories and the photo book they received documenting Naomi's adventure.

The Dedicated Team Behind the Initiative

Kyle Chrystian, the President of Dreams Take Flight Edmonton, expressed pride in the difference the initiative has made in the lives of children in Alberta and the Northwest Territories. The team of devoted volunteers is fueled by the knowledge that they are making a significant impact, one child at a time.
