WestJet has announced a significant extension to its winter schedule, offering non-stop connectivity between Winnipeg and Ottawa. This move comes as a part of WestJet's commitment to fostering meaningful connections and creating new business and tourism opportunities in the communities it serves.
Details of the Extended Service
Initially set to pause temporarily on October 29, 2023, the direct service between Winnipeg and Ottawa will now resume on December 18, 2023, and continue throughout the winter schedule. WestJet will be the exclusive carrier on this popular route, facilitating four weekly connections between Manitoba and Canada's capital cities. The new flight frequencies will be available for booking starting September 10, 2023.
Daniel Fajardo, WestJet's Vice-President of Network and Schedule Planning, emphasized the route's importance for business, government, and leisure travelers, highlighting it as a testament to WestJet's market leadership and growth plan in action.
Inauguration of Winnipeg-Atlanta Service
In addition to the extended service, WestJet celebrated the inauguration of its service between Winnipeg and Atlanta. The launch marks a pivotal addition to Winnipeg's network, offering direct transborder connections to six destinations in the United States, thanks to WestJet's investments in the city.
The service commenced with the departure of flight WS1360 and will feature five weekly flights throughout the winter, enhancing the economic pipeline between Central Canada and the Southeast United States.
