Halifax, Canada – Jazz Aviation LP ("Jazz"), a subsidiary of Chorus Aviation Inc. (TSX: CHR), has been honored with the Indigenous Reconciliation award as part of the Government of Canada's Employment Equity Achievement Awards. The award, presented on November 22, 2023, acknowledges employers who have shown exceptional commitment to reconciliation with Indigenous peoples.

Jazz's Commitment to Diversity and Reconciliation

Jazz's recognition stems from its comprehensive approach to Indigenous reconciliation, which includes initiatives like the Diversity Blueprint. This framework outlines how diversity is integrated into the company's policies, procedures, and efforts to identify and eliminate barriers faced by Indigenous employees.

Key elements of Jazz's reconciliation efforts include:

  • Indigenous Employee Resource Group: A platform for information sharing, connections, and education and training opportunities.
  • Leave for Traditional Indigenous Practices: Developed in consultation with Indigenous employees.
  • Participation in the North American Indigenous Games: In July 2023, seven Indigenous employees represented Jazz in an immersive experience at the games.

Supporting Indigenous Youths in Aviation

Jazz's commitment extends to Indigenous youths and those interested in aviation careers. This includes annual Indspire scholarships, recruitment resources dedicated to Indigenous candidates, and partnerships with Indigenous educational institutions and employment organizations to promote aviation opportunities.
