Hawaiian Airlines Introduces New In-Flight Amenity Kits Designed by Noho Home

HONOLULU – Hawaiian Airlines recently announced a collaboration with Hawaiʻi's lifestyle brand, Noho Home by Jalene Kanani Bell, to introduce new in-flight amenity kits and soft goods. This initiative emphasizes sustainability and is deeply rooted in the spirit of aloha.

The term “Noho” in ʻŌlelo Hawaiʻi (Hawaiian language) signifies “to be, to dwell, or to come from.” The designs by Noho Home, which draw inspiration from Hawaiian Airlines' latest Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner premium cabin, the Leihōkū Suites, incorporate three distinct motifs: Kilo Hōkū, Lele, and ʻŌlali. These designs aim to provide both locals (kamaʻāina) and tourists with a sense of place and comfort during their travels. This design philosophy aligns seamlessly with Hawaiian Airlines' service ethos, Mea Hoʻokipa, which translates to "I am your host."

Starting from November 6, Business Class passengers on Hawaiian’s long-haul international routes and flights connecting Hawai‘i with New York, Boston, and Austin will be presented with amenity kits made from responsibly sourced materials. These kits will be housed in recycled plastic canvas bags and will contain essential items. To further reduce waste, an array of additional amenities will be available a la carte. The Business Class section will also showcase plush quilts featuring the Kilo Hōkū and ʻŌlali designs, accompanied by a mattress pad and sleeping pillow, all made from fabric derived from recycled plastic.

Passengers in the Extra Comfort and Main Cabin sections will be provided with new amenity kits that highlight the Lele design.

Alisa Onishi, Senior Director of Brand and Community and Cultural Relations at Hawaiian Airlines, expressed the airline's pride in this collaboration with Noho Home. She emphasized the mutual aspiration to foster a connection to home for passengers while transporting them to their destinations.

The designs are deeply rooted in the native Hawaiian practice of kilo, which means careful and constant observation. They narrate a tale of exploration through diverse patterns, colors, designs, and textures. The Kilo Hōkū design, for instance, is inspired by the mesmerizing timelapse imagery of the night sky, symbolizing the eternal cosmos that has historically guided voyagers.

Jalene Kanani Bell, the founder of Noho Home, established the brand in 2018 with a vision to redefine Hawaiian décor. She specializes in a contemporary Hawaiian aesthetic that merges art with functionality. Bell expressed her excitement about the collaboration, hoping that the products would ignite meaningful conversations and strengthen connections to the Hawaiian islands.

In addition to the in-flight amenities, Hawaiian Airlines and Noho Home will extend their partnership to include a retail collection of home goods. The Hawaiian Airlines x Noho Home Leihōkū Collection will be launched on November 6 and can be purchased on select Hawaiian Airlines flights or directly from Noho Home.

Hawaiian Airlines, now in its 94th year of continuous service, remains Hawaiʻi's premier and longest-serving airline. It offers approximately 150 daily flights within the Hawaiian Islands and connects Hawaiʻi with 15 U.S. gateway cities. The airline has consistently been recognized for its on-time performance and exceptional service.

Noho Home is a renowned Hawaiian home decor brand that emphasizes quality, authenticity, and sustainability, drawing inspiration from Hawaii's rich natural beauty and culture.
