Emirates and Batik Air Strengthen Ties, Offering Expanded Travel Options to Southeast Asia

KUALA LUMPUR, 23 October 2023 - In a significant move to enhance connectivity and offer more travel options to Southeast Asia, Emirates and Batik Air Malaysia have announced a new codeshare agreement. This collaboration will enable Emirates' customers to access five domestic Malaysian cities and three regional Southeast Asian destinations operated by Batik Air via Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA).

The announcement was graced by the presence of YB Tuan Anthony Loke, the Minister of Transport Malaysia. The event also saw the participation of key figures from both airlines, including Saeed Mubarak, Emirates Country Manager for Malaysia; Anand Lakshminarayanan, Emirates Senior Vice President, Revenue Optimisation; Orhan Abbas, Emirates Senior Vice President, Commercial Operations (Far East); Bapak Rusdi Kirana, Co-founder of Lion Air Group; Dato’ Jana Santhiran Muniayan, Secretary General for Ministry of Transport; and Datuk Chandran Rama Muthy, Group Strategy Director of Batik Air and Lion Group.

The partnership between Emirates and Batik Air signifies a strategic move to tap into the growing demand for travel within Malaysia and the broader Southeast Asian region. It also underscores the commitment of both airlines to provide enhanced travel experiences for their customers.

The codeshare agreement is expected to boost tourism and business travel, offering seamless connections and a wider range of destinations for travelers from both airlines. With KLIA serving as a key hub, passengers can look forward to convenient flight schedules and expanded route options.
