Air Canada Introduces Audible Original Audiobooks and Podcasts to In-Flight Entertainment
Air Canada has taken a significant step forward in enhancing its in-flight entertainment (IFE) offerings by becoming the first airline to introduce Canadian Audible Original Audiobooks and Podcasts to its IFE system. This move aligns with the airline's commitment to providing a diverse, award-winning entertainment experience for its global passengers.
The collaboration with Audible, a leading provider of premium audio storytelling, will allow Air Canada's passengers to immerse themselves in dynamic audio content during their flights. This partnership is a testament to Air Canada's ongoing investment in delivering unparalleled IFE content to its customers.
John Moody, Managing Director, Product Design at Air Canada, expressed his enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, "Entertainment is an integral part of the in-flight experience. With the rising popularity of audio stories, the addition of Audible's engaging audio articles and interviews complements the diverse range of content in our unparalleled in-flight programming."
Georgia Knox, Canada Country Manager at Audible, highlighted the company's dedication to offering exceptional listening experiences to its global customers. She said, "Through our collaboration with Air Canada, we aim to inspire, entertain, and inform more listeners during their travels."
AdvertisingThe initial rollout will feature 160 hours of Audible Original Audiobook and Podcast content, adding to Air Canada's existing 2,500+ hours of IFE. The content spans various genres, including Sports, True Crime, Family, Wellness, and Comedy. Notably, the catalog will feature a broad range of Canadian content in both English and French.
Air Canada's recent partnership with Audible is one of several initiatives to expand its in-flight entertainment options. The airline has doubled its IFE content since last year and, in May, introduced free text-based messaging for all Aeroplan members on Wi-Fi-equipped aircraft. Additionally, Air Canada became the only Canadian carrier to offer live Canadian TV onboard in November.
The airline's dedication to product excellence has been recognized with several awards, including being named the World's Most Family Friendly Airline by Skytrax and Best Airline for Onboard Entertainment by Global Traveler for five consecutive years.
