This strategic move includes the introduction of new routes and an increase in flight frequencies to various Asian destinations, reflecting the airline's commitment to international network diversification and meeting the growing demand for travel to Asia.

Key Enhancements to Air Canada's Asia-Pacific Services

  • Vancouver-Hong Kong: Up to 11 weekly flights will operate from mid-December to February 29, 2024, to support holiday and Lunar New Year travel, followed by 10 weekly flights from March 1 to October 26, 2024.
  • Vancouver-Bangkok: Extended winter seasonal service from December 1, 2023, to May 5, 2024, with an increase to daily flights during the peak winter period from January 8 to February 28, 2024.
  • Vancouver-Shanghai: Four weekly flights from December 1, 2023, to March 30, 2024, will be upgraded to Boeing 777-300ER aircraft for holiday and Lunar New Year travel.
  • New Route to Singapore: Launching on April 3, 2024, with four weekly flights.
  • Vancouver-Osaka: Seasonal flights will begin earlier on May 1, 2024, with an increase to four weekly flights starting June 17, 2024.
  • Increased Capacity to Japan: Flights to Narita from Vancouver, Montreal, and Toronto will be upgraded to Boeing 777-300ER aircraft for the full summer season.

Mark Galardo, Executive Vice President of Revenue and Network Planning at Air Canada, highlighted the airline's ongoing efforts to boost capacity to Asia as part of its international diversification strategy. The airline's Asia services continue to see strong demand, and the increased capacity will offer up to 57 flights per week between Canada and Asia this winter, and up to 64 flights per week next summer.
